Such electrochemical gates are of great interest for fundamental research, and they can find numerous practical applications (e.g. in switchable/tunable biofuel cells and biosensors). Rates of electrochemical reactions can be controlled by modification of electrode surfaces using materials that do not directly participate in the electron transfer process but rather affect the access of redox active species to an electrode surface. Here, we report on a novel electrochemical gate formed by a polyelectrolyte gel membrane with cholesterol-controlled tunable porosity generated on an electrode surface. 收起<<
